Gold Wing Road Riders Association - Texas Chapter G

Hobo Breakfast

Take the Chapter out for breakfast. Way out it the boonies, that is. That's a good place to have a "Hobo Breakfast". Take a large coffee can and place it bottom-up on a circle of fist-sized rocks with a lit can of sterno fuel in the center. Now repeat with a couple more cans, depending on the size of your hobo herd. When the can gets hot enough, cook bacon on top of the can. After the bacon is done cooking, leave the grease on top of the can and cook the eggs next. Bring juice, bread, sweet rolls and doughnuts.

Ready for more? If your Chapter is large, you probably broke up into small riding groups. These groups are the perfect size for cooking teams. Get adventurous and start a competition allowing more challenging recipes and menus. Make sure that the cooking gear remains hobo-like.

You would be amazed at what is possible. You can boil an egg in a paper cup. You can bake a biscuit in a shoebox covered with foil. You can even make ice cream, one coffee can inside another coffee can, by rolling it back and forth between two people sitting at a picnic table.
